And I have a limitless budget.įree Comic Book Day: Many newcomers will pick up comics for the first time on FCBD-what was the first comic you remember reading? I am my own Director, FX studio and Casting Agent. I have the power to make my own "Director's Cut" when I don't like how some other creator or company handled a classic story that I like. I think the best thing about working in comics is I can share my ideas and stories with many people. But those above are just the perks of working in comics. Rod Espinosa: Working in my pajamas? Being able to go on trips without filing for leave? Being able to have 2 hour lunches? Being able to stop and help people at their time of need? So hurray to everyone involved!įree Comic Book Day: What’s your favorite thing about working in comics? I really am very thankful the organizers do this annually and it's become such a regular event now. Rod Espinosa: It's everyone coming together to share and discuss comics and to have a chance to see new titles. I actually have a few books out like Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Comedy of Errors, Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Winter's Tale and Cymbeline (published by ABDO books).įree Comic Book Day: What do you think is the best part about Free Comic Book Day? Rod Espinosa: If this is the Steampunk Fairy Tale line from Antarctic Press, I'd say if you're a fan of anything to do with fairy tales or the classics. Rod Espinosa: Meeting with people and listening to their stories.įree Comic Book Day: What other titles would you associate with your FCBD book? “If a comic reader likes _, they should pick up my title"? Bonus is artwork you can pore over and look at for hours.įree Comic Book Day: What are you most looking forward to for Free Comic Book Day? Rod Espinosa: When you pick up a Rod Espinosa storybook, you can be assured of the care and quality I took to make a good story you can enjoy. I can spend many days on just designing worlds or what the good guy and bad guy castle looks like.įree Comic Book Day: Tell FCBD fans why they should pick your book first on Free Comic Book Day! Rod Espinosa: Without a doubt, it's the character and world design. When you read Rod Espinosa's Snow White, Cinderella or even Snow Queen, it will have my own sensibilities and flavor, but it will be faithful to the story you love.įree Comic Book Day: What has been your favorite part of book or character to tackle? So it's just a matter of practicing the Golden Rule. These are also my childhood memories so I cherish and protect them as best I can. I am not out to wreck people's childhood memories for a quick buck. Everything you see from costumes, to street vendors, to food on a plate has my personal stamp on it.įinally, whenever I do retellings of popular classic stories, I try to be mindful and respectful of the original source. I always strive to deliver to the reader the best experience and place them in the world I am crafting. ![]() A reader usually knows they are reading a Rod Espinosa book when there are crowd scenes and massive battles worthy of a Cecil B. In REM sleep, brain wave recordings show similar electrical activity to being awake. "The second part of the cycle is REM sleep. Passing through these four stages of NREM sleep takes about an hour," explains Dr Lee. "Stage four is called deep sleep because it is the hardest part of the sleep cycle to wake anyone up. People who have disrupted sleep often have less deep sleep, because they don't reach the latter stages of NREM so often. Stage four - the deepest level of sleep, where EEG recordings show long frequency, delta waves called slow waves.Stage three - this is moderately deep sleep.Stage one - the initial drowsy period when you first start to fall asleep, which only lasts a few minutes. This is slow-wave sleep, and usually represents between 13% -23% of time spent asleep." "Deep sleep takes place during the latter part – stages three and four - of NREM sleep. That's because, Dr Lee says, there are two stages of sleep: "Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) sleep which accounts for 75% of sleep, and Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep which makes up the other 25%," she explains. However, few of us manage to achieve this regularly. The dream situation (excuse the pun) is to be the type of person who falls asleep quickly, and not disturb until the next morning. We must ensure we get the right amount of sleep, but also that our sleep has the right quality." Why do we have broken sleep, and how does it happen? In a lifetime, we spend around one-third of our lives asleep. "Many people do not realise sleep is just as necessary for survival as the need for food and water. "Sleep is not just a trivial pastime, it’s essential for a healthy mind and body," Dr Deborah Lee, GP at Dr Fox Online Pharmacy tells Cosmopolitan. Tossing and turning all night can often leave you feeling worse - so what can you do to ensure that the time you are asleep is regenerating and refreshing as much as possible? ![]() ![]() While getting a solid eight hours might be easier for many of us due to the pandemic, there's no guarantee that more sleep = quality sleep. A spa weekend or great yoga class is all well and good, but the effects of sleeping deeply are unparalleled. There's nothing quite like waking up feeling fresh after a long, deep sleep. ![]() Sargeras has tried to invade Azeroth many times.
